纽约哈莱姆合唱团

纽约哈莱姆合唱团是1996年由百老汇音乐总监LINDA TWINE与阿卡迪亚唱片和音乐经纪有限公司的首席制作人DAVID K. LEE先生合作组建的，最初的名字是哈莱姆黑人灵歌团。该团集合了纽约的一批杰出的艺术家，致力于以黑人所创作的宗教音乐向美国以及全世界的观众传递美国黑人的传统和精神。

有着200余年历史的美国黑人宗教民歌，植根于南北战争前美国南方的非洲黑奴文化。灵歌在安慰和给予被奴役黑人以生存的希望方面起到了至关重要的作用。他们在敬神和音乐会上与各种不同背景的人们有着强烈的交流。然而，当几乎美国所有的优秀音乐模式都将其出处归结到这种赋予灵感的传统音乐之时，灵歌这种音乐本身，作为一个流派，却在很多年里迅速滑坡。纽约哈莱姆合唱团致力于通过特殊的编排来继承和发展灵歌音乐，虽然是为了音乐会舞台而作，但是放在第一位的始终是这种音乐的永恒本质。

2006年在该团成立10周年之际，正式更名为纽约哈莱姆合唱团，原因是乐迷们希望欣赏到更加丰富的曲目，比如音乐剧中的歌曲、老式流行歌曲、爵士乐和歌剧等。

继该团在哈莱姆艺术学院的首演之后，纽约哈莱姆合唱团又出访墨西哥、韩国和美国，取得了轰动性的成功。自2006年起该团每年圣诞期间以“与哈莱姆共庆欢乐圣诞”的特别制作在韩国、日本、中国、马来西亚等地巡演，受到各国观众大爱。近年来阿卡迪亚唱片和音乐经纪有限公司为该团制作发行了CD 《DRY BONES》、《圣诞颂歌甄选》等新唱片。今年是纽约哈莱姆合唱团组建20周年，为了庆祝这一历史性的事件，合唱团将在世界范围内展开巡演，其中亚洲巡演将于12月份先后在日本、韩国和中国举行。

New York Harlem Singers was established in 1996as The Spiritual Singers of Harlem by Broadway music director Linda Twine in association with Producer David K. Lee, Executive Producer of Arcadia Records and Music Management, Inc. Compressed of outstanding New York based artists, the ensemble is devoted presenting the time-honored tradition of the African American spiritual to audiences throughout the United States and aboard.

With a more than 200-year history, the spiritual is rooted in the African slave culture of the antebellum South. Spiritual served a crucially important role in providing solace and hope to an enslaved people. They still communicate powerfully, both in worship and in the concert hall, to people of all backgrounds. However, while all the great musical forms of America owe their provenance to this inspirational tradition, as a genre unto itself, the spiritual has fallen into decline over the years. New York Harlem Singers are committed to keeping this tradition alive through arrangements, which, though written especially for the concert stage, adhere first and foremost to the music’s timeless essence.

After 10 years, in 2006 they changed their name from The Spiritual Singers of Harlem to New York Harlem Singers, because of the big demanding of the audience to hear more various repertoires like songs from musical, old pops, jazz melody and opera etc.

After the first appearance at the Harlem School of the Arts, New York Harlem Singers has a resoundingly successful tour to Mexico, Korea and United States. During the Christmas Season since 2006, the ensemble annually made great successful tours to Korea, Japan, China and Malaysia with the special production “Merry Christmas with the Harlem”. They were deeply loved by the audiences all overAsia. In recent years, Arcadia Records has released several of their CDs, including “Dry Bones”, “Carol of Harlem” and etc. This year is the 20th anniversary, to celebrate this important event, they are planning a worldwide tour and for Asia, they will tour in Japan, Korea and China from the beginning of this December.

马库斯•哈珀在极富声望的美国华盛顿霍华德大学修读音乐作曲/理论，并且是美国音乐戏剧以及福音音乐领域众多编曲/指挥的获奖者。哈珀先生将美国黑人传统的精髓带入他的音乐，打开了观众的见识并启迪了美国以及国际的观众，并真正使得观众获得娱乐！编曲以及指挥的奖项包括他与Walter Hawkins指挥的Love Center合唱团合作的专辑《活着爱V:重聚》获得格莱美奖“最佳传统福音歌唱片”的提名。他在Trey Anthony 导演的电影《da Kink in my hair》中的工作获得NAACP 戏剧奖“最佳音乐指导” 的提名，还有众多“最佳音乐指导”奖，音乐戏剧剧目中包括了美国和加拿大非常受欢迎的剧如Marion J. e’Marcus Harper,studied Music Composition/Theory at the prestigious Howard University in Washington, DC and is an award winning Arranger/Conductor in both the American Musical Theatre and Gospel Music industries. His commitment to bringing the African-American experience into his music has delighted both national and international audiences in ways that are both informative and entertaining. Award winning arranging/conducting credits include a Grammy Award nomination for “Best Traditional Gospel Recording” for “Love Alive V: The Reunion” by Walter Hawkins and the Love Center Choir, a NAACP Theatre Image Award nomination for “Best Musical Direction” for his arrangement of the score in “da Kink in my hair” by Trey Anthony, and numerous "Best Musical Direction" awards for musical theatre productions in America's League of Regional Theaters and Canada's National and Regional Theatre markets, including the US and Canadian tours of award winning shows such as 3 Mo’ Divas by Marion J. Caffey, Dinah Was (the Dinah Washington Story), Dreamgirls, The Wiz, and Crowns by Regina Taylor. As an accomplished vocalist and recording artist he has performed, recorded, and/or toured with artist such as Carlos Santana, Tramaine Hawkins, Lionel Ritchie, Michael Jackson, Edwin Hawkins, Aretha Franklin, Bishop Walter Hawkins, Billy Preston, and Li’l Richard.
