Isabelle Huppert, France’s national treasure,has appeared in more than 100 films and numerous productions. She earned lotsof Best Actress Awards: at the Cannes Film Festival for VioletteNozière and ThePiano Teacher, at the Moscow International Film Festival for Madame Bovary, atthe Venice Film Festival for Une affaire de femmes and La Cérémonie for whichshe also had the César Award. The VeniceFilm Festival awarded her a Special Golden Lion Award from the Jury, for herpart in Patrice Chéreau'sGabrielle, as well as for her entire career. She wasChairwoman of the Jury for the 62nd Edition of the prestigious Cannes FilmFestival. She has recently earned several awards for Elle: the Gotham Award,Golden Globe Award, César Award and Oscar nomination. L’Amantis a semi-autobiographical novel byMarguerite Duras, published in 1984 and was awarded the Prix Goncourt in thesame year. It has been translated into 43 languages and sold thousands ofcopies worldwide. The story concentrates in a simple and moving form of alifelong experience. Indochina, 1930. The white and minor daughter of poorcolonists meets a rich Chinese heir. The unpredictable encounter happens. Andas desire is forbidden, it grows more intense. Their passion is a secret meantto haunt the work of one of the greatest authors of the century.The novel wasadapted to film in 1992 as The Lover . Actor Tony Leung Ka-fai starred in thefilm.
