已经成立了500年，战争和政治时局的改变，皇室家族的更替都不能终止其存在的清一色男生合唱团，连代表英国学院风的电影《哈利波特》都不禁将其纳入镜头的牛津大学男声合唱团会发出什么声音呢？
牛津大学，世界上第二古老的大学，英语国家中最古老的大学，900多年来一直位列世界级顶尖学府。创建于1525年的牛津大学基督教会是牛津大学最大的学院之一，它同时也是牛津的基督教堂，是世界上唯一一所教堂式学院。它最引以为傲的是在200年内产生了16位首相。
牛津大学基督教会拥有世界著名的合唱团——牛津大学基督教会合唱团，又译牛津大学男声合唱团，这是英国最知名也是最古老的合唱团之一，与剑桥大学国王学院合唱团齐名。虽然它已经有500年的历史，但是却以其青春活力及创新曲目而闻名于世。
合唱团由12名成年男子、16名10-13岁的男童、及两位管风琴演奏家组成。合唱团的男孩子是从牛津基督教堂附属学校经层层选拔而来。成年男子成员中6名是专业的唱诗班歌唱家，6名是牛津大学本科生。
除了每天的教堂唱诗班演唱，牛津大学合唱团每年都排满了海内外巡演的节目，录制了许多获奖唱片。英国BBC 为他们录制了纪录片，赞誉他们是“地球上最优秀的合唱团之一”。
该团的音乐基地就是牛津大学地标性的基督大教堂。基地大教堂近年来声名远播，一个重要的原因是电影《哈利·波特》选中这里作为霍格沃茨魔法学院的拍摄基地。而英国文学名著《爱丽丝梦游仙境》就是在这里创作而成的，教堂中庭有一棵大树，据说兔子先生就带着爱丽丝从这里跳进去仙境的。
本场音乐会，牛津大学男声合唱团将为观众奉上天籁般的教堂圣咏、古典主义和浪漫主义的合唱经典、以及现场版的《哈利波特》电影原声。

Christ Church Cathedral Choir is 500 years old, yet is justly famous for the youthfulness of its sound and its daring and adventurous musical programming. Unique in the world as both Cathedral and College Choir, the intimate acoustic of its musical home has given it a relationship with early sacred music and the rhythm and vigour of contemporary idioms which is second to none.
Throughout its history, the Choir has attracted many distinguished composers and organists - from its first director, John Taverner, appointed by Cardinal Wolsey in 1526, to William Walton. The present director of music (known as the Organist), is Stephen Darlington. In recent years, the Choir has commissioned recorded works by contemporary composers such as John Tavener, William Mathias and Howard Goodall.
There are twelve men and sixteen boys in the Choir along with two organists. The boys are selected for their musical ability and attend Christ Church Cathedral School. Of the men, six are professionals (the lay clerks), and six are undergraduates (the academical clerks). The Cathedral is renowned for training many of the country's leading organists. As well as singing daily services in the Cathedral (usually Tuesday - Sunday), the Choir's reputation inevitably leads to a busy annual programme of concerts and overseas tours.
The Choir has many awardwinning recordings to its credit and works with several international orchestras and soloists. The Choir broadcasts regularly and was recently the subject of a Channel 4 television documentary, Howard Goodall's Great Dates, in which it was hailed as "one of the finest choirs on Earth". The film was nominated at the prestigious Montreux TV Festival in the Arts Programme category - and has since been seen throughout the world. Their collaboration with Goodall has also led to the Choir singing his TV themes for Mr Bean and The Vicar of Dibley. The recording of these pieces is available on ASV. The Choir appeared in Howard Goodall's Big Bangs, broadcast in the United Kingdom on Channel 4 in March 2000, and a soundtrack CD , featuring the Choir, has been released.
